Tao-Klarjeti in the Footsteps of Ancestors

In April 2018, 10th graders of Georgian-American High School visited Turkey, a neighboring country, for educational purposes - to visit 9th-11th century Georgian monuments in Old Tao-Klarjeti. The purpose of the trip was for the students to visit the centers of Georgian education, Christian cult buildings and defensive structures. The students got acquainted with the history of building cultural monuments, visited the ruins of churches-monasteries and the educational institution, the observatory included in their complexes. During the visit, the students recalled the material learned from the hagiographic work related to the Tao-Klarjeti and the ruins of Christian monuments there.

The excursion route included the following points: Tbilisi, Tbeti, Khandzta, Doliskana, Artanuji Fortress, Hell Canyon, Tortom Waterfall and Lower Fortress, Oshki, Khakhuli, Ishkhani, Otkhta, Bana. The last evening was spent in Yusufeli.
